Religious conversions - road to hindu nation??

Religious conversions - Road to Hindu state ??

So we've been hearing about the religious conversions going on all around the country. I'm sure we all have our opinions about them. But as we are in the 21st century we ought to ask ourselves is this really the direction we wish to go in? So let's begin.

The head of India's most powerful Hindu group vowed to press ahead with a campaign to convert Muslims and Christians to Hinduism, stoking a sensitive debate that has stalled parliament and threatened Prime Minister Narendra Modi's economic reform agenda.
Mohan Bhagwat of the right-wing Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh, which is also the ideological wing of Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), said India was a "Hindu nation" where many Hindus had been forcibly converted to other religions.
"We will bring back those who have lost their way. They did not go on their own," Bhagwat said in a speech late on Saturday. "They were lured into leaving."
Bhagwat's comments came after BJP said it did not support forced religious conversions and called for an anti-conversion law.
India's 1.2 billion people are predominantly Hindus but there are also about 160 million Muslims and a small proportion of Christians.
Modi is under fire for being slow to rein in hardline affiliate groups that have been accused of promoting a Hindu-dominant agenda that includes luring Muslims and Christians to convert to Hinduism.
"We don't want to convert anybody ... but then Hindus should also not be converted," Bhagwat said, adding that those who do not support religious conversions should bring in a law against it.
Bhagwat's comments are likely to further irk opposition parties that have disrupted parliament over the conversion issue, demanding that the prime minister himself make a statement on the issue in the upper house.

(Times of India) (Dec,21st)
Addressing the first-ever public rally by Vishwa Hindu Parishad in West Bengal, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat said, "There is no need to fear. We are in our own country. We are not intruders or infiltrators. This is our own country, our Hindu 'rashtra' (nation). A Hindu will not leave his land. What we have lost in the past, we will try to bring it back. No one should be afraid of Hindus rising. Those who are raising their voice against the rise of Hindus are selfish and have vested interests. And if they oppose, there will be confrontation. We must remember that the confrontation is for the ills done to our ancestors. Hindus have been tolerating crimes by Bangladesh or Pakistan. Our God says after 100 crimes, you must not forgive any crime.
Till the Hindus are here in India, the country is there. If Hindus are not there, then everybody living here will be in distress"

Describing India as a Hindu rashtra (nation) and making a strong pitch for Hindu awakening, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.

Speaking at a Hindu Sammelan as part of VHP's golden jubilee celebrations, Bhagwat said, "Hindus do not convert, so nobody should try to convert Hindus to other religions."

"We are trying to create a strong Hindu society. Those who strayed, were lured away. They were looted from us. The world knows. If now we are taking back our property, then what's the big deal?," Bhagwat told the 20,000-strong crowd.

TOI(Dec,21)- Yagnesh Mehta

SURAT: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad claims to have brought 500 people from 100 Christian families back into the Hindu fold in a 'ghar wapsi' programme organized in the tribal Arnai village in Valsad on Saturday. The organizers said that they did not take any permission and did not violate any law.

"A yagna was performed and participants were given pendants with an image of Lord Ram. They discarded the pendants of another faith. We did not lure any participant," said Valsad VHP secretary Ajit Solanki.

District collector Vikrant Pandey said that he has asked officials to inquire into the event and submit a report. "As per the law it is mandatory that a detailed procedure be followed for religious conversion. But to consider this event as conversion or not is yet to get clear," he said.

(The Hindu) (Dec,15) -Amarnath Tewary
Amid the controversy over the recent “conversion” of around 200 families in Agra and the one proposed at Aligarh, BJP MP Yogi Adityanath on Sunday declared that the campaign would be organised across the country in the days to come.
“The ghar vapsi campaign will not be confined to Uttar Pradesh alone,” said the BJP MP from Gorakhpur.
The MP, known for his incendiary comments, also said that they had been receiving huge support and response from people across the country for the campaign. “I see opposition to this ghar vapsicampaign as opposition to Hindutva,” he added.

Anonymous view 1:
Instead of debating and making a fuss in the parliament , both the ruling and opposition parties must concentrate on drafting anti - conversion bill such that it allows the conversions and ban the "Forcible conversions". A separate body must be appointed to look into this conversions and see that people do not convert into other religions just to enjoy some constitutional facilities [such as reservations].
People who are willing to convert into other religion must inform the respective authority 30 days prior, so that they could verify the reasons and check if there is any forcible conversions. After the verification the authority gives their consent.

Prime minister and the expectations

Prime minister and the expectations On Aug 15, 2014 Shree Narender Modi, prime minister of India was a different person and now exactly after one year i.e., on Aug 15, 2015 he is a different person again. This is stated by people all over the country. An article tiled "From outsider to insider" published in Times of India says that the law of diminishing marginal utility has set in. But don't think it is actually law of ascending marginal utility? People started to expect more year by year. Lets say from 2014-15, there are significant changes in the way government operates and people have begun to think, there is a swift shift in the prioritizes of the government from just fulfilling needs to development. So people began to expect more and immediate changes which are not exactly possible. I t is irony that people expect overnight change, want immediate comforts rather than aiming for development which serves greater good. Le...

Arab world instability

It all started in 18th century, where whole world was full of fiefdoms and serfdoms (with some exceptions). Europe rose in its military technology and their thirst for capitalist power has made them to conquer the whole world and establish their imperialism. For the luxury of few, they have exploited many as if it was a legitimate thing to do. The want for economic and political supremacy made European nations to fight against each other which culminated with world wars. These wars resulted in the emergence of new nation-states, which actually should have carved through Woodrow Wilson's 14 point theory but ironically not. Along with this the decolonization has sculptured countries with disputed borders. There formed countries with true reasons and strong leadership and some without reasons and ineffective leadership. The best example is the south Asia where partisan of Pakistan was totally unnecessary if it was not for the idiotic Islamic groups. Even the breaking of ottoman emp...

Urbanisation in Medieval Europe

Urbanization – Medieval Europe The growth of trade and commerce in the medieval Europe has given birth to the urbanization which lead to the growth of towns and cities. Urbanization is nothing but growing cities with luxury and the latter can be linked to the then play of politics with city centers as core. Dukes and kings used to show off their wealth in public with the help of city states, to gain their trust and to ambassadors to make them sure about their alliances. This attitude is not only restricted to the kings but to the other elite class of the society. With the growth of cities feudal lords of country side have decided to make their presence felt by constructing residences in the cities. This lead to the growth of architecture in the towns and cities and huge allocation of funds for the construction is seen in the medieval Europe. Coming to the city planning, They were constructed with an architect plan with the roads cutting at 90 degrees and the markets placed al...
